The town executioner of Trnava was a member of guard and riot services. Although the function of executioner was one of lowest, it was not badly paid. In addition to the essential work, such as executions and torture, executioner was in charge of casting out inconvenient people, catching and killing stray dogs, transportation of carcasses out of the town and cleaning of public conveniences. Trnava municipality, if necessary, provided his services to surrounding towns, townlets and castles. Executioner lived in a room in the town hall, which stood near the prison.
