In a shack under the castle lived a jealous widow. She was very poor and hated anyone who owned more than she did. One day, the widow was gathering sticks when she got to the ruins of the Ostrý Kameň castle and found herself in an underground chamber, which was full of gold. She goggled at the treasure as a hungry goat at a cabbage. She immediately ran for her sons to help her carry the gold treasure home. As the sons were scooping the gold into pots, in the corner of the chamber they saw an old man, who drove them out. They told their mother of this and fled away in fear. However, the poor widow did not heed and continued to gather the gold. Suddenly, however, the underground part of the castle collapsed and buried the greedy widow. Since then, no one has ever found any chamber with treasure.
