Smolenice Carst Nature Trail
The undemanding route of this nature trail with a length of 7.5 km enables lovers of nature and history to become familiar with the wild Hlboča Gorge which features the only waterfall (9 m high) in the Little Carpathians, and the archaeological locality of Molpír. The remains of the Hallstatt princely hillfort can be found above the church in Smolenice. This nature trail can be accessed from Smolenice church or at Jahodník on the way to Driny Cave, the only accessible cave in the Little Carpathians. The cave tour itself lasts approximately 35 minutes. The discovery of the cave was the basis for the establishment of Jahodník recreational centre, offering accommodation in its cottage area and catering in its stylish restaurant. A swimming pool, fireplace, and horse riding are accessible to guests. The nature trail has 5 information panels and the time necessary to complete the trail, including the tour of Driny Cave, is approximately 4 hours. The trail is bidirectional and accessible in summer as well as in winter. It is undemanding and also suitable for families with children.
