Slopy (Karst Valley)

The karst valley with springs in Brezová Carpathians is formed by Triassic limestones and dolomites. The plant cover consists of diverse forest communities of the 1st and 4th altitudinal vegetation zone with oaks, maples and limes. There grow unique xerophilous and thermophilic plant species on rocks and screes. The nature reserve with the area of 153.87 ha was established in 1993 in the cadastral area of municipality Dobrá Voda. The nature reserve is crossed by red-marked Štefánikova magistrála leading from Dobrá Voda to the hill identically named as the reserve, Slopy (432 m). Its central part contains ruins of castle Dobrá Voda protecting now forgotten road crossing the mountain ridge of Little Carpathians.
