Since 2011 Christmas markets have been organized by the Mediaflash agency. They take place in the town centre from the end of November until the New Year’s Eve. They are opened by ceremonial lighting of the lights on the Christmas tree in the Trinity square. The music performances of mainly local artists on two stages accompany the event. The bigger stage is dedicated to professional musicians and the smaller one next to the refreshment zone is used for performances of children from Trnava primary schools and kindergartens. Craftsmen, handmade producers and commercial vendors sell their Christmas products in contemporary wooden stalls, which enhance the christmasy character of the markets. Traditional meals selection is diversified by bull roasting and sale of pig-sticking specialties. Visitors can also try typical christmasy drinks such as mulled wine, punch or mead, but also “the town hall tea with rum” which is for free and is poured by the mayor and the town council representatives themselves.
