Every fan of the sport in Slovakia knows that Trnava is especially a football town. In the 1960s and 1970s, Spartak Trnava belonged to the top European football clubs. “Bílí andely” (White Angels) – the familiar nickname of Trnava football players – have become a five-time champions of Czechoslovakia. The most memorable event in the history of the club has been the engaging in the semifinals of the European Champions Cup in 1969, when the famous Ajax Amsterdam visited Trnava. Trnava football club then narrowly missed the finals of Europe's major football competition. Football tradition is still alive in Trnava. Local Football stadium of Anton Malatinský is always full of typical atmosphere, which starts with the first tones of Trnava football anthem – the famous trumpet solo Il Silenzio.
