Kostolányiová, Eva

The Slovak singer, dancer and musical actress. She was born in Trnava, to the family of factory workers, who had also other seven children. At the age of fourteen, she moved to Bratislava with her brother, where she performed as a dancer in SĽUK and later on, also in the Military Art Ensemble. Since 1967, she sang in the cabaret "Tatra revue". She became famous especially in the period when she sang with Ľubo Belák and Braňo Hronec's bands with which she experienced several tours abroad. At the home scene, she was mainly a favourite pop music singer. Among her most famous ones, we can mention: "Poď so mnou", "Až bude pokosená tráva", "Výlety", "Keď si sám", "Smoliar", "Hala hala" and others. Several times, she attended the prestigious festival Bratislava Lyre, where her songs earned great success. In 1972, she won a silver lyre (second place) with her song "Farebný sen" and also the second place in the category Public Poll for her duet "Zmysel nemých slov". Next year, she achieved a silver lyre for the duet "Chvála humoru", which she sang with Karol Duchoň. The third time she attended the Bratislava Lyre in 1975, she won the third place with the song "Dobré ráno želám". After suffering from a serious disease, she died at a pinnacle of her career in Bratislava, at the age of thirty two.
