Katarínka Nature Trail

The locality popularly called Katarínka lies approximately 20 km northward from Trnava, and is included in the cadastral district of Dechtice municipality. The nature trail can only be accessed by hikers from the border of The Little Carpathians Protected Landscape Area. The monastery ruins can be accessed from the south taking the blue trail from Naháč (? h.), from the north taking the blue trail from Naháč (1 ? h.) or from the east taking the non-marked trail from Dechtice (1 ? h.). The nature trail route leads around the area of the Monastery of St. Catherine, whose ruins are in the area of the Katarínka Nature Reserve with rare xeric and thermophilic forests. The trail offers five stops and one information panel dealing with the forest narrow gauge track. The other panels comprise Christian thoughts and contemplations. The circular nature trail is undemanding, can be taken in both summer and winter time, and is also accessible for families with children. It is predominantly oriented on the history of the Monastery of St. Catherine, the project of its rescue, and archaeological research.
