Ján Hollý Memorial Room
Ján Hollý was a Catholic priest and a poet who lived at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. He was born in Borský Mikuláš, studied in Trnava and worked as a chaplain in Pobedím and Hlohovec. By end of his life, after he went blind as a result of a fire at his parish house in Madunice, he moved to a house of his friend from young years, Martin Lackovič. It was here in Dobrá Voda where the most famous visit of three linguists, Štúr, Hodža and Hurban, took place. They asked Hollý about his opinion on the creation of a new literary language. Hollý gave them his blessing, but he continued to write his poetry in old Bernolák dialect. Ján Hollý memorial room, located in the parish house office, was opened to the public in 1985 to commemorate a birthday anniversary of the famous poet.
