Hrajnoha the Bandit

Hrajnoha the Bandit came from a remote settlement in Myjava and in the 18th century, he was a terror for all merchants who travelled on the Bohemian road through the Little Carpathians. Woods provided his group of bandits with plenty of options for hiding, so he was able to avoid the law for a long time. Finally, in the 1768, he was captured. The bandit was sentenced to death by quartering in Trnava and displaying his remains as a warning. Supposedly, he was buried in the cemetery near Smolenice, by the road to Boleráz. And because they feared him even after death, they rolled a huge stone on his grave, which even today is still lying in the Smolenice park.
