Festival Lumen is the biggest festival of modern gospel music in Central Europe. Its origins go back to the 1993, when it started as a display of choirs from Trnava and surrounding area. Today the name of the festival exceeds not only the Trnava town borders but also the borders of Slovakia. At the beginning of June representatives of local artistic scene as well as top foreign artists perform in the Trinity square, Hviezda cinema, town amphitheatre and other places. Within the last few years the festival has earned the name “city music festival” – during two festival days the whole town centre revives with music, crowds of young people and friendly atmosphere. A part of the vent is formed by various accompanying activities – various arts displays, prestigious guests giving lectures and workshops; priests and monks providing spiritual guidance.
