Devil's Glen (Rock Glen)

The rock valley with the area of 23.58 ha and location in the cadastral area Smolenice was established a nature monument in 1992. It represents a unique geological structure and nature monument of canyon-like character. There occur several karst forms of which fissure grikes prevail. The gravitational decay applies here. The glen markedly cuts into the eastern side of hill Čelo (716 m) and its existence is connected with a tectonic break continuing to the mountain ridge of Záruby Hill. Its bottom contains rock fall accumulations and rock blocks. The Devil's Glen is located near the valley Vlčiareň and is crossed by the busy green tourist route to Záruby or in the opposite direction. The ascent routes lead to Jahodník, Driny Cave or from the Hlboča Valley. The crossing of glen is not recommended in unfavourable weather conditions, especially when it is raining and snowing.
