The Summer Festival will dominate not only at the Promenade, but also Holy Trinity Square, the City Amphitheatre and the relax zone Kamenný mlyn

In July and August, the Summer Festival of Trnava will dominate not only at the reconstructed Trnava Promenade (Korzo) but also Trojičné námestie (Holy Trinity Square), the City Amphitheatre and the relax zone Kamenný mlyn. In addition to concerts of the most various musical genres, dancing, singing and street theatre performances that towards each evening will liven up the new pedestrians zone  as part of the Summer on the Promenade programme, the traditional offer of cultural festivals and other events prepared by the city self-government will not be missing either. Everybody – from children to the seniors - will be able to choose to their liking. And for those who are eternally curious to know, regardless of their age, the favourite Wanderings through the Little Rome are prepared to discover a number of little known facts of the life and history of our city.

On Thursday, July 3, the official opening concert of the Czech Dreams 2014, a European project,  will take place in the Marianum concert  hall.  Josef Špaček, a top young violinist, was given the honour to play at this opening concert.

Warm summer evenings, chilled beer, and the best works of the Czech and Slovak film production – this irresistible triple combination is again brought by the Summer Bažant Cinematograph that, starting on Sunday, July 6, will gradually offer its fans  five movies in the open-air movie theatre.

In July, each Friday afternoon, parents and their children can take a walk to the Kamenný mlyn outdoor swimming pool not only to have a swim there but also to see some children theatre performances in the Amphitheatre. The same fairy tale performances will take place two hours later in the pedestrians zone.

Sunday afternoons are set aside for the Wanderings through the Little Rome, while Sunday evenings for traditional Promenade concerts of brass bands at the City Amphitheatre.

The fans of young, untraditional music and unconventional ideas will certainly be delighted by the fact that also this year, two July nights are devoted to the Proma Frajdej in the Sad Antona Bernoláka Park.

It will be the eleventh time this year that beginning August, we will use an international Trnava Jazz language,  Trnavský JAZZyk, to speak with stars of this genre. Shortly after that, the city Amphitheatre will host a special cultural event, the first one of this kind in Slovakia – two evenings will be devoted to a famous opera by Giuseppe Verdi, Giovanna d’Arco.

When speaking about the classical music, we must add that in Trnava, August is traditionally  the time of concerts of top organists who will sit at the precious Trnava historical organs to give concerts at the International Trnava Organ Festival.

In mid-August, the rule of the Trnava Summer Festival will be taken over by folklore when the 13th Trnava Gate International Festival will take place. During three days, the gates of our city will symbolically open to the folklore ensembles from the Visegrad Four countries. As always at the Trnava Gate Festival, also this year´s Festival programme includes top musicals. Now the Trnava citizens and visitors can look forward to the legendary musical about the best known highwayman,  Na skle maľované (Painted on the Glass), directed and choreographed by  Ján Ďurovčík, and the successful musical story about a forbidden love, Čiernobiely svet (Black-and-white World) performed by the Vranovčan folk group.

On August 31, we will say goodbye to this year´s Summer Festival at the concerts by Majko Spirit, Hex and others, but at the same time we can start to look forward to the Traditional Trnava Market, with the summer sun locked in the first burčiak, new half-fermented wine. The accompanying cultural programme mainly focuses on traditions of the important medieval market place.

„You throw your soul to the audience, and people accept it or chew it up as meat.“ Katarína Kubošiová, a daughter of actress and singer Eva Pavlíková, has only recently been brought to public notice. Already in her childhood, she enriched her artistic soul by experiences from the theatre world to which she would be brought, willy-nilly, by her mother. Her songs have a touch of nu-folk, and her lyrics are inspired by her own life. In addition to composing music, she studies film screenwriting. In a very short time, she has won  a lot of fans, which is confirmed also by the fact that her Mozgové sféry (Brain Spheres)  had been on the top of the Demovnica_FM charts for a long time.
