Trnava Poster Triennial is a public display of world posters and a prestigious international competition under the patronage of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations   (ICOGRADA). It has been taking place every third year during autumn and winter months since 1991 and it is organized by Ján Koniarek’s Gallery. The founder and long-term honourable chairman of the event is a graphic designer Jozef Dóka Jr., after whom also the main prize for the overall winner of the competition is named.  Posters creation is assessed by a five jury members in the category of professional authors (individuals and teams), and the category of students of secondary schools or art colleges. During the last two years of the event, the topic of relationship between new types of media and posters was promoted. After a single-shot experiment of websites design evaluation, other accompanying activities, which monitor modern communication tools, were added to the event programme.
