Trnava Organ Days

Trnava Organ Days were founded in 1996 by an organist, Stanislav Šurin. The festival of organ music takes place during August and September weekends in the Basilica of St. Nicolas. The concerts are performed on a big, so called “romantic” organ, which was built by Rieger Otto Budapest Company in 1912; and on small choir positive from 1783 from Trnava craftsman Valentin Arnold, which is the first instrument in Slovakia with separated keyboard ad is one of the most valuable historical organs in Slovakia.  Since the event’s beginnings until these days many famous organists from all over the world have played in Trnava. A regular visitor of the festival is for example David di Fiore from Seattle, who currently works as an educator at Katolícka univerzita v Ružomberku (Catholic University in Ružomberok). After successful performance two years ago “the organ Pavarotti”, Olivier Latry, the titular organist of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, also announced his return to Trnava.
