Trnava Gate (Trnavská brána) is a modern event pursuing the old folk traditions and customs. The international festival of folklore ensembles has been taking place since 2001. It is held in the historical town centre in August, usually from Friday to Sunday and every year it hosts several hundred performers. Besides local ensembles, also the guests from Visegrad group countries as well as folklore artists from other foreign countries, including exotic countries such as Turkey or Taiwan, regularly take part. The concept of the festival supports spreading traditional cultural values, which are presented in the performances on the main stage in various ways and in the accompanying events. Interested people and fans can also come to see folklore costumes in a parade through the town, try making handmade folklore products or participate in ceremonial mass together with the folklore ensembles members.
