Nature Trail to Driny Cave

This moderately demanding short nature trail is 650 m long. It is scientifically and historically oriented and comprises four information panels (two at the end of the access route to the cave and two in the cave itself). The route is connected to the yellow trail and to the nature trail of Smolenice Carst. The greatest point of interest on this nature trail is Driny Cave, which was created on faulted limestone. Its length is 680 m and the cave entrance is at an altitude of 399 m. The cave´s 450 m are accessible to the public. The most attractive features include its sintered units with characteristic jagged edging, such as “Mother-in-law´s Tongues,” “Elephant Ears,” “Organ,” etc. A 36 m long ghyll, by means of which the cave was discovered, flows along the limestone plateau of Driny Mountain above the cave. The remains of a narrow gauge track with a trolley are at the front of the cave. The most suitable period for hiking this trail is from April 1st to October 31st, when the cave is open.
