Majdan Nature Trail

This undemanding trail with a predominantly forestry and scientific orientation is 5.5 km long. This nature trail can be taken in summer as well as in winter (ski running is possible). The greater part of the trail is a private paved road, and the last part of the trail is a gravel path. There are two introductory information panels at the beginning of the trail in the locality of Olšovský Mlyn behind the Majdan settlement. The trail includes four more stops. Separate panels are at the crossroads of Jágerská, dealing with fauna and flora. Nearly the entire nature trail leads along the Parná stream, and one part follows in common with the green trail. The trail provides us with information on the protection and production of forests in the adjacent area, the carst stream in the locality of Husí stok, a fish farming centre, and the Parina water reservoir. There are 18 ponds on the Parná stream, which were created in 1867 by count Móric Pálffy to farm salmonids. Several trout species are farmed there nowadays. Parina water reservoir is the home of several waterfowl species, and has also served as a water source for the underlying ponds since 1993 (the reservoir also fulfils the protection function of water retention). The last stop is the locality of Močiar, which is an instance of the creation and development of beech forest. Nearby, there are the remains of a narrow gauge forest track from 1900, which was used for wood transportation.
