Brestovany and Music
In the first half of the 19th century, the manor house in Brestovany was a place with busy social life. The Zamoyski family often organised concerts and theatrical performances. Perhaps the most famous of the family was Ludmilla Gizycka-Zamoyska – the well-known pianist, composer and organiser of musical life, even at the imperial court in Vienna. During this period, the manor house was reportedly often visited by the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin, to whom locals later built a bust in the park in front of the mansion. Meanwhile, however, the descendants of the Wielopolski family revealed that it was not Frédéric Chopin, who visited the manor house in Brestovany, but another important composer Franz Liszt. One way or the other, no one is able to take away a musical tradition from Brestovany.
