Around Parná and Gidra Streams

The streams of Parná and Gidra flow in the south-western part of the Trnava Upland. Start the tour at Trnava railway station and go south-westwards taking Bratislavská cesta to get out of town. Hrnčiarovce nad Parnou municipality, one of the former parts of town, lies in the immediate vicinity. The most significant cultural and historical sight of the village is originally Gothic Roman Catholic Church of St. Martin from 14th century. After going further southwards over the motorway, you get to Voderady. The most interesting architectonic sight of the village is a late Baroque neo-classicist manor house from the 18th century. It is surrounded by a spacious park, which used to be among European unique places. The Baroque Roman Catholic Church of St. Andrew is situated opposite the manor house in Voderady. Continue north-westwards from Voderady along the Gidra Stream through Slovenská Nová Ves with its Roman Catholic Church of St. Joseph. Another stop of the tour is Cífer, the biggest village of Trnava region. Interesting archaeological artefacts from the Roman period were found in its part called Pác, and the fortified Roman Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul is also a place of interest. Cultural and historical sights of Cífer worth attention particularly include the original late Baroque manor house from the end of the 18th century. The tour continues north-westwards through Jablonec to Budmerice, while it crosses the boundary of Trnava District for a short time. Turn right in Budmerice to the second-class road and continue to Ružindol, returning to Trnava District. Ružindol´s dominant element is the originally Gothic Roman Catholic Church of St. Bartholomew, which was already recorded in the 13th century. The tour returns to Trnava through its former part called Biely Kostol. We get to the centre of Biely Kostol after turning from the main road at the northern part of the village. Its greatest attraction is a manor house, whose original building was walled and rebuilt to a summer residence by Trnava Jesuits. The Roman Catholic Church of Christ the King is also worth attention. Continue eastwards over the Parná Stream and through Kamenný mlyn recreational area to get back to the start of the tour in Trnava.
